Evening Wildlife Walk & Supper with Ecologist Rob Frith

Evening Wildlife Walk & Supper at Vallis Farm

Join us for an unhurried evening at Vallis Farm, exploring what happens on the land after daylight fades.

We’ll begin at 8:00 PM with supper together in the kitchen garden, sharing a simple, seasonal meal and a glass of wine. As the light starts to change, ecologist Rob Frith will introduce the wildlife we’re likely to encounter and what makes this time of day so important for many species.

At sunset, we’ll head out on a guided walk around the farm, focusing on the creatures that emerge after dark. With Rob’s expertise, we’ll look and listen for bats, moths, amphibians such as newts, and other nocturnal life that often goes unnoticed. The walk will also explore how farming practices and landscape features support wildlife through the night. If conditions are right, we may be lucky enough to spot barn owls hunting over the fields.

The evening will finish around 11:00 PM, offering a chance to slow down, tune in, and see the farm from a very different perspective.

A relaxed and informative event for anyone interested in ecology, wildlife, and the rhythms of the land — no specialist knowledge required, just curiosity.

This is one of two Evening Wildlife Walks - 9th July and 30th July.

Oh and why not extend your experience by spending the night in one of our Shepherd’s Huts?
